All Things Fall

When the weather turns chilly my cozy side comes out. I love bundling up in cozy sweaters, comfy boots, and thick flannels. It’s my uniform of sorts and I couldn’t be happier. Over the last few days Lee and I have emerged from our warm weather hiding pattern and have been doing some of our favorite outdoor activities, like a peaceful Sunday evening drive up to Bald Rock in Cleveland, SC.

Under the watchful eye of the Table Rock landmark, Bald Rock is about a 40 minute drive away from Greenville and has been one of my favorite nearby retreats since moving to South Carolina. From mountain-top worship services to long exposure, evening photography experiments, the scenic overlook has been the site of some great Greenville memories. And on the plus side, the views are just beautiful, especially when the leaves start to change.

It sometimes surprises me how many different ways I can wear my plaid. I’m on the hunt to find a couple more shirts – I’m very picky – but for now my navy and red check has been worn every which way, including cinched around the waste because the sun was still warm and boots and jeans were keeping me toasty.

I’m a planner at heart so I try to always anticipate what I’m going to need whenever we have adventures more than 15 minutes away from the house. A camera is typically one thing I never leave home without. Whether it’s just my iPhone working its magic or my vintage Cannon AE-1, you never know when you’re going to have the perfect opportunity to grab that #instashot.

If you’re ever in the Greenville area, I highly recommend you make the 40 minute drive up to the mountains. The great thing about Bald Rock is you drive the whole way up, park along the road, and walk about 30 seconds to see the view – not strenuous at all! And the sunsets are spectacular!
